Budget Advice - Financial Budget For Life

Cars are built from plans. Houses and buildings are built from plans. Even the body we live in has a format and a plan to it. Why don't most of us think to have a budget or budget plan for our finances?

I am a real estate developer, and I would never think of building a house without a plan. A plan is so crucial, townships will not allow a builder to build without one. Why should our financial lives be any different? With a budget and proper budgeting we should be able to realize most, if not all of our financial goals.

Does this seem smart?

Personal budgeting is crucial, if we have financial goals in life we would like to achieve. This includes most of us. We want nice homes, cars, vacation, education for our children and other necessities and luxuries. We would like to attain our financial goals without losing our shirts or become deeply indebted. First, set a lose financial plan, then zero in and refine it for every area of your financial life.

Budgeting is not synonymous with frugality. You may at times decide to be frugal or lavish with your budget. The necessities are always the first consideration with your budget and then any luxuries. Necessities include food, shelter, clothing, health and transportation. Luxuries include vacations, luxury cars and entertainment. Your savings come before both of these.

You can do research or hire a financial planner to help you decide on a savings portfolio. What is important here is to recognize that saving is a very important part of a good budget. There are savings vehicles that will give you much more that the small percentage amount offered by traditional accounts at banks. Free budget forms can be acquired off the internet, which will guide you in laying out your budget.

Plan your budget yourself, or hire a financial planner to help you with it. Once it is done, do whatever is necessary to stick to it and meet you short and long term goals.
