Top Five Things to Look for in a Car Dealership!

Buying a car is one of the first major purchases any of us ever make. Most of us have fond memories of our "first car." I even know a guy who uses the make and model of the car he owned as a way of creating a mental time line of his life; that's how important it is to him. So why is it that so many consumers end up feeling uncomfortable at the dealership? At San Tan Honda Superstore of Chandler we want to sell cars. But we don't only want to sell cars. We want to sell cars and have our new drivers heading home happy with their purchase and confident that they got a good deal.

If you're not careful you'll discover first hand that not all dealerships have the same philosophy. A lot of car dealerships don't really care about the "eventual" satisfaction of the customer as long as they get the papers signed and the prospective customer back on the road in a vehicle; any vehicle. So before you wander into just any car lot...think about a few things that might make your car purchase a little more pleasant.

At San Tan Honda Superstore of Chandler we like to think that we help people. We help people buy cars. And we know a few things about what you should be looking for in a dealership for your next car purchase:

1. Nice salesmen. And not just because it's enjoyable, but because the stereotypical car salesman are actually sometimes the ones you end up with on the car lot and you won't enjoy it! A good dealership will train their sales associates to give customers a little bit of space. They might even leave you to wander into the showroom on your own and browse through the inventory a little bit before they greet you and offer to help you. This method is much more enjoyable than the tried and true drag the car buyers from their vehicles before they've even come to a full stop!

2. Make sure you are able to access Internet specials through your chosen dealership. You want the best deal and the easiest way to get the best deal is to relax and do your research online.

3. We all have to put up with bossy friends, bossy parents and even bossy siblings, but you shouldn't have to put up with bossy salesmen. Some salesmen depend upon the establishment of a pattern to make the sale. They might start by getting bossy with you on irrelevant matters saying, "Wait here" or "Follow me." Be aware that they may be leading up to a "bossy" finale where they tell you what car to buy at what price. Choose a dealership who has trained their sales people to avoid such pushy maneuvers.

4. Bossy is not so great, but knowledgeable is fantastic. Your chosen dealership should have salesmen on hand that can offer you all sorts of information. They are there for you to access to inform your car purchasing decision. But be careful that you don't mistake opinion for knowledge. An overly opinionated salesmen can often persuade buyers to make a deal on a car they've never even thought about purchasing before stepping onto the lot. Choose a dealership with salesmen who are trained to get you exactly what YOU want, not what they want to sell.

5. And what about honesty? If a dealership is honest you'll never look back on your "monumental" car purchase with bitterness. Choosing an honest dealership means you will have a clear knowledge of your interest rate and payment information. Choosing an honest dealership means you will actually have the opportunity to take advantage of advertised specials. (If you are immediately told that the "advertised special" is already sold or is temporarily out of stock. Say thank you and walk away to find a dealership that actually honors their own advertising!)

If you make sure your dealer of choice meets the above 5 requirements you'll have a lot less to worry about. Remember that just because buying a vehicle is ultra convenient and seemingly easy doesn't mean it shouldn't be weighty decision. Start your next car ownership experience off by being happy with your purchase transaction. Being happy with your vehicle is one thing, but the best thing is being happy with your entire car buying experience from arriving on the lot to driving your new car for years to come!
