Lots of people dream about traveling the world, in their spare time. And the one thing that they think about most is where they will be sleeping. Would not it be nice to find friendly accommodations in another country? That could be you. You could become a homestay host and be welcoming visitors into your home. All you need is an extra bedroom, an interest in meeting people from other countries, and desire to make money without leaving your own home, then being a homestay host might just be your thing.

An extra bedroom or two could mean a nice extra income without even leaving the house. Also, because you create your own schedule, you can make your own plans for a homestay vacation in another country.

Homestay's are great bargain when you are traveling, but are still a nice income source when your at home. People who live in North America have an advantage for hosting homestay's because one third of old homestay travel is in the US and Canada.

In general there are about 30 countries offering homestays and the opportunity to meet people from other cultures. Becoming a host family can help open up your world whilst helping you to save money in your own vacation fund. You may end up hosting somebody from an exotic land, form a friendship, and then decide to visit them the following year. There is nothing more enjoyable than spending vacation time with somebody who knows the area and can give you the exposure to culture that you would not normally get from a vacation travel package.

An interesting part of this market is the student sector. Students will often seek out homestays as part of their foreign education plan. You might host a student for five months if they are just studying for a semester or for a full year in the case of students studying for a degree. If you have a student in your house you may want to consider a homestay exchange. Your son or daughter visits overseas, and is hosted by a family who send a student to stay with you.

It does not matter if you are a younger student or an older one, a homestay is a good choice. If you do end up housing a student who is in a foreign education program, they will certainly appreciate your inside information about your neighborhood and activities in town and your not likely to complain about the extra income.

The safety benefits alone are obvious. Knowing the best ways to get around and the best areas to visit is a big benefit for a visitor.

Almost everyone is looking for ways to make additional income to pay the monthly bills. Being a homestay host can help with that, as well as giving you an inside track on information about a foreign destination before you even get there. If you make a list of all the advantages of having borders stay at your home, and the advantages of getting the inside scoop on possible travel destinations, you will have a hard time holding yourself back from making travel plans for the next couple of years.

All it takes as an extra room are two in your house, a sense of adventure or interest, and your own desire to travel the world are reduced budget. Likely by now you are seriously considering being a homestay host.
