Miter saws are very important for many woodworking projects, these are used to make accurately angled cuts to make frames and baseboards. Standard miter saws only cut a few angles, more advanced models can be adjusted to the precise degree. Compound miter saws can also cut beveled edges. You should decide which type you should buy depending on your budget and needs. You might be interested in purchasing a saw with the extra features. Sliding saws are suitable for cutting larger pieces.

Compound Miter Saws

These types of saws can cut at horizontal and straight angled cuts. These saws can be tilted so that you can cut beveled edges. Most standard miter saws do not tilt which means they cannot produce beveled edges. Modern miter saws are table mounted and use a circular saw which is pushed through the wood. These saws are very long lasting and also fairly portable. This makes them suitable for people working on sites.

Double bevel saws or dual power compound saws are able to cut straight and horizontal angles, these are similar to a compound saw. These are also able to tilt in both directions which makes them much more usable at producing beveled edges. These saws are much more versatile when compared to standard compound saws.

Sliding compound saws are basically the same as standard compound saws however they can cut much bigger pieces of wood as the saw can be pulled forward to allow bigger sizes of wood.

The latest version of compound saw is the dual compound sliding saw. These saws are capable of cutting miters and bevels. These can tilt in either direction which makes it possible to put bevels on the wood. These can also slide forward for cutting large pieces of wood. These are portable and can be moved from location to location easily.

Radial Arm and Miter Saw

Radial arm saws are very flexible, many people will prefer to use one of these saws as their bench saw. These can make a lot of different cuts, including dado, ripping stock and crosscutting. These can also tilt to cut bevels and miters. You can also use them for routing work and drilling.

The thickness of wood you can cut with the saw depends completely on the size of the blade of the saw that you are using. You should carefully select a saw which is capable of cutting the types of material which you will be using. Dewalt radial arm saws are considered the best ones available as these are durable, reliable and very easy to use. This saw is suitable for most woodworking needs.

Panel saws aren't very common in wood working workshops, however they are often seen in lumber yards. These are capable of cutting very large pieces of wood. These are used to cut large sheets of wood including paneling, and plywood.

These panel saws are also used by contractors when building new homes or making home improvements. Some of these saws cannot be moved and are fixed in position. Others can be moved and are portable. Contractors generally prefer portable models as they are easy to move between locations.
