One of the most abused stimulants today is cocaine. More often than not, social problem cases involve the use of cocaine. Although some contest that cocaine is addictive, there is no doubt this stimulant has a property that is psychologically addictive.
Cocaine Is Not Addictive But Its Effect Is
Cocaine can be used in many ways. It is also called in many names like the flake, crack, rock and nose candy. The idea that cocaine is not addictive stems from the fact that this stimulant lacks withdrawal symptoms common to addictive substances like heroin and alcohol. But although it doesn’t have a number of withdrawal symptoms, it doesn’t mean that it is not addictive.
If cocaine is not addictive, then why can’t its users stop using it? Once they start using this drug, they get addicted to the euphoric feeling that it brings. Their body becomes dependent on the drug. To experience the same euphoric feeling, they use cocaine regularly. There is quite a truth in the belief that cocaine is not addictive. The substance in itself will not let you crave for it. But the feeling that a person gets from the substance is the one that is addictive.
