Twelve Tips to Get You Sleeping Like A Toddler Every Night

Want to put an end to the misery of sleepless nights and weary days? You can! Sleep is natural and necessary so, barring disturbances such as new babies and snoring partners, we can all get the sleep we need. That is unless we are doing something to prevent it. Are you willing to make some changes?

When you were a toddler I bet you slept pretty well. You won't remember that but you know that its true, because all toddlers sleep well! Lets figure out what they are doing to get such wonderful rest every night. One thing is they go to bed when they are tired. Second they don't lie there worrying about the events of the day nor making plans for the next.

Alarm clocks are not needed, little kids wake when they have had enough sleep, even if Mom hasn't. Oh yes, they don't have to work long hours and mostly they don't smoke or drink coffee. What about exercise? Have you ever tried to keep up with a two year old?

Blame Edison for inventing the electric light if you like. He and others made it possible for us to ignore night and day and to work and play at any hour. Its unrealistic to try and go back to living in the way we did before electricity, cell phones, computers, TV and long working days, but we can be a little more childlike in our habits.

Ok so here is your Sleep Like A Toddler Plan to End Sleepless Nights.

1. Cut out all coffee and other caffeinated food and beverages from late afternoon

2. No nicotine or alcohol within the last hour before bedtime.

3. Have a small carbohydrate snack such as a sandwich, plus a milky drink at bedtime.

4. Try to include 30 minutes exercise every day, but don't do it in the evening.

5. Don't work in the evening or within an hour of bedtime and never in bed.

6. Don't expose yourself to light in the late evening, that includes your computer screen.

7. Relax in bed and don't think about your problems.

8. Learn and practice some relaxation exercises such as meditation or PMR

9. Go to bed at the same time every night allowing yourself 8 hours of sleep time.

10. Bed time and rising should be the same at the weekend as they are during the week.

11. While regulating your sleep don't stay out late even on social occasions.

12. Don't take sleeping pills they impair your performance more than being tired does.

All of these tips will help you if you carry them out regularly and for some time.
