As the size and the quality of television grows so does the size of the space needed to accommodate our Entertainment needs. A generation ago televisions where not what they are today they were tucked away in the corner or not even in the living room at all. Today, however we devote whole rooms to our home entertainment - here are some tips designing a home theatre room in your own home.

Two important features to consider when you create your home theatre are room shape and the height of the ceilings. If you select an oblong shaped room with high ceilings, you will be able to imitate the feeling of being in a real movie theatre even though it will be smaller and cozier. You may choose to insulate this room or sound proof it if you have neighbors close by and you want to be certain not to disturb them even if you enjoy turning up the volume.

Putting a home theater in an existing room in your has does not have to be a big deal. Basements are the perfect option with little to no windows make it easy to keep out the light. If you don't have a basement or a windowless room all that is needed is heavy drapes to keep the light out.

Next thing in designing a home theatre room is the sound and space. The room should be away from bedrooms or other rooms where noise would be bothersome. If the room is near other rooms a good option would be to soundproof the room by adding insulation before you hang the sheetrock or adding soundproofing panels to the walls. The space should be large enough to fit some nice comfortable seating for you your family and friends. Remember to keep the seating at the right distant from the television for best viewing.

Naturally, you'll want to get your stereo TV and surround sound equipment but that is for another article entirely. You should do some research to determine which electronics best fit your needs and also learn how to set up the equipment.

There's more to designing a home theatre room than just the shape, size, and electronics. You'll also want to add your personal style with small details that really make the room special. Find couches or chairs that reflect your personality, or even memorabilia from your favorite movies. If you have enough room, you could even include a popcorn machine or a bar. These finishing touches will really be the aspects that you take great pride in.
