Everyone I have ever met loves to spend time making their homes look nice. Interior design is a very personal subject, what one person may like another person may hate. Depending on the theme that you are trying to use you might have more difficulty. A colonial American theme might be desired, however if this theme is only used in one room then it can look strange and out of place. You should normally try to keep some consistency throughout your entire home when designing. People often accomplish this by coming up with a theme and use it for the whole house.

The only exception where you might want to go with a different theme is when you are working with basements and garages. The theme of the basement or garage are not really very important, you can have virtually any theme without affecting the look of the rest of your home. You may wish to keep your curtains or drapes light in color to brighten up the place. This is why most men are allowed to decorate the basement or garage. These rooms are rarely used and so not important.

Floor to Floor

There are many creative ideas for decorating homes, one such idea involved differing the style of flooring between rooms instead of having the same floor theme throughout.

The children can help design their own rooms, and the wife will no doubt be in control of the bedroom. The main living floor of the home is normally what is kept consistent. Personal themes are normally restricted to personal quarters.

You should spend some time deciding on your theme and try to keep the downstairs of the home consistent. If you take the time to decorate your home properly then you can make it a very interesting and inviting space that not only you will enjoy, but also your friends and family. Decorating doesn?t have to be difficult, planning can make the most of your time.
