The Ant Philosophy

Jim Rohn has a very powerful philosophy that he calls the ant philosophy. He says that ants have a four-part philosophy.
1. Ants never quit.
Ants don't worry about the details. They just do. Their job is to gather food. That's all they do, and they're very good at it. They don't quit.
What about when you disrupt their ant line? The ants will search and search until they relocate the scent.
Sometimes things are going great in life. We have a strong lock on the right path in our lives, when something comes up. Something changes. We can't find the line. When this happens, don't give up. Look around. The trails can't be far. Don't quit until you find it.
2. Ants are thinking about winter all summer long.
They have to think this way in order to survive. It's easy to think that winter is far away. We don't need to gather today, because we'll have time tomorrow, or the next day. Don't buy into this way of thinking.
The ants think more on the lines of "gather, gather, gather for tomorrow we die." They know the winter is coming. They prepare while everything is going well, while the weather is beautiful. We winter comes it is too late.
3. Ants are thinking summer all winter.
I live in Minnesota. Sometimes it seems that summer won't be coming this year. But it always does. Ants know this. Winter never lasts forever.
The same is true in our lives. Our lows will pass. We'll feel the warm on our faces again. The plenty will come again. Even the Ice Age eventually ended.
4. Ants think, "Gather all we can now." Jim Rohn calls this the all-they-possibly-can philosophy.
The seasons follow the same order. Always. Don't be surprised that winter follows fall. It's always the same.
But sometimes we're surprised by an early snowstorm. Or a colder than normal winter. Don't be surprised, be prepared.
To summarize the ant philosophy:
1. Don't ever, ever quit.
2. Remember winter is coming.
3. Remember winter will end. The summer is coming.
4. Gather all-you-possibly-can.
