Not only are fancy dress costumes great fun but there are so many options to choose from that there is bound to be something to suit everyone's tastes. Regardless of whether you are dressing up for a party, celebration or special occasion there is a theme that is appropriate for everyone from young children to adults.

A popular adult theme for fancy dress costumes is the Rocky Horror Picture Show. This is because it's a lot braver and more outgoing than most themes so is the perfect way to create laughs and have an excellent evening. Unless you are really brave perhaps this theme is best left for private parties rather than nights out where you go onto a nightclub.

Another popular theme for fancy dress costumes is Pirates. This is a unisex theme so is particularly popular because it is not limited to just men or just women. Films such as Pirates of the Caribbean have helped to make this a popular theme as there are so many different variations for pirate outfits now than there used to be.

Films can often provide people with ideas for fancy dress costumes. For example, Star Wars, Grease and Saturday Night Fever are all popular themes for people who want to dress up. This is because it is something a bit different than the typical costumes that you tend to find around Halloween time.

There are also plenty of fancy dress costumes for kids. For example, fairies, cartoon characters and people from their favourite TV programmes and movies. This is a great way of keeping children entertained for hours on end which leaves you to get on with other things that you may need to do.

Some people don't like dressing up in fancy dress costumes but this doesn't mean that they have to miss out on all the fun. There are plenty of ways of looking different without having to dress up in a full outfit. For example, wigs, masks and angel wings are all great ways of brightening up and outfit and creating a look that is a bit unusual.

Fancy dress costumes have been around for many decades. However, it is only recently that people have started dressing up for no reason. Originally, most people would only dress up at Halloween. However, this slowly started to change and people started dressing up at Christmas and Easter. Nowadays though people don't even need a reason to dress up and you often see groups of friends on nights out all dressed up.
