Burn the Baby Fat - Make a Change in You

Nature has a way of teaching us. It's normal to gradually gain weight over 9 months when you are pregnant. And logic would dictate that losing pregnancy weight should also be a gradual process. But thanks to the media, this logic is ignored and Moms are looking to lose weight after giving birth in the fastest way possible. Nature points to health and wellness and the media points to the Celebrity Mom. Mom, you are looking in the wrong direction.

Let's be candid here. Opting for the over hyped diet pill or fad diet is the wrong way to go about losing the baby fat because the average Mom is lacking in the essentials to do it the right way. These essentials vary from person to person. Whether it's not enough time, motivation, mental toughness, self-confidence and so on, the list is not important. What matters is that permanent weight loss starts and ends with you.

Lose the Weight by Loving You

It's time to re-align the seesaw of self-confidence and pregnancy weight. When you love who you are, then it your physical appearance should not dictate your self-worth and confidence. It's not easy being overweight and it's not easy facing your fears and issues about your weight and body image. Self-confidence is nutured when you love yourself for who you are not how much you weigh.

But love can conquer mountains and when you love yourself, you will bat for your "team". As we all know having a perfect body doesn't bring happiness. True happiness shines from within. Let your light shine regardless of your weight.

Face your Fears

If your self-confidence is low and your post pregnancy weight is high, it high time you get back into shape. Going about it the healthy way will require, as they say, "no pain, no gain". As a Mother you have faced and overcame many challenges running a household. But this one is personal. You have to courageously fight the temptation to procrastinate, give up or cheat with a quick-fix diet pill to trim your tummy. If you can readily cope with the responsibilities of being a Mom for your family, then why not cope with getting fit and healthy for you?

A Good dose of Honesty

Loving yourself also means being honest with who you are and what your capabilities are regarding weight management. It means being able to set realistic goals to lose your tummy and to make healthy lifestyle choices. It means being able to know your weakness and finding the tools to overcome them. It means being able to know your strengths and using them to your advantage. It means being able to judge your actions fairly and to make the wise choices to make your goal to lose weight after giving birth a long-term investment.

Look inside yourself

How many of us truly know ourselves? When you love yourself, you will know how to avoid the things that hinder you and to embrace the things that help you. The same would apply to burn the baby fat. You would know to avoid the things that would tempt you to self-sabotage your diet and exercise regimen. Or you would know to avoid the external cues that trigger an emotional eating binge. You would know to capitalize on your excellent cooking ability to make delicious healthy meals. Or you would have the foresight to take advantage of your love for the outdoors by doing more physical activities with your family.

Life is to be lived and not spent worrying or obsessing about weight. It's your body, time, energy and efforts. So why not do yourself a favor and do it right. Choosing to live a healthy lifestyle will keep the weight down and your quality of life up.
